Posted with permission, courtesy of The Nashua Telegraph.
www.nashuatelegraph.com

Topics covered: economy, abortion, immigration, stem cell research, Iraq war, Iran, Afghanistan, foreign policy, nation building, the monetary system and destruction of the dollar, 911-what he would have done different, civil liberties, open government and privacy, ethics in government, marijuana and the war on drugs-legalization, Alternative energies (ethanol, hemp, solar, nuclear)-free market solutions, health care, homeschooling and private education, corrupt government, the primary system

On the issues:
IRAQ WAR: Only Republican member of Congress to vote against war in 2002 and would withdraw all U.S. troops in three to six months.

IMMIGRATION REFORM: Supports strengthening borders with more federal patrols and enforcing laws against employers who hire illegal aliens. Opposes guest worker or any form of amnesty to the 12 million people who got here illegally.

HEALTH CARE: Supports free market solutions such as health savings accounts and transitioning a refundable tax credit so more families can afford health-care coverage; voted to let citizens buy and bring cheaper drugs from Canada into the U.S.

EDUCATION: Voted against No Child Left Behind; supports $3,000 tax credit for families who participate in school choice. Opposes school vouchers as philosophically that means other taxpayers are subsidizing another family’s schooling. He supports home schooling.

FEDERAL BUDGET/TAXES: During 19-year congressional career, Paul said he’s never voted for a bill to raise taxes and voted against most federal budget spending bills. Would dismantle the Internal Revenue Service, repeal the federal income tax and is open to a national sales tax in its place, but only if the Congress made deep cuts in federal spending first.

ABORTION: Has an anti-abortion voting record, but opposes a constitutional amendment to ban abortion and instead favors letting states restrict the procedure as they see fit. Urges supporters to contend the federal judiciary that outlaws abortion restrictions lacks jurisdiction to take up the issue.

GLOBAL WARMING: Restrictions on pollution should be done at the state rather than federal level. He favors federal tax credits for research of alternative energy sources and says expansion of nuclear power is a “safe, clean” way to cut back use of fossil fuels.

GAY MARRIAGE: Would let the states set restrictions on marriage and voted against federal Defense of Marriage Act in 2004. Says marriage is a religious institution, but would not oppose states issuing licenses that recognized the union of same-sex partners.

STEM-CELL RESEARCH FUNDING: Supports expansion of research, but opposes federal funding for it.

Thanks to your efforts, we were able to bring Rick Reyes, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, to Congress’s attention. A former Corporal in the US Marines, Reyes was powerful and truthful as he told Senator John Kerry and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, “I urge you on behalf of truth and patriotism to consider carefully and rethink Afghanistan. More troops, more occupation is not the answer.”

Reyes’s testimony raises critical concerns that Congress must address before approving a massive supplemental war funding bill in the next few weeks. Let’s work to halt this war funding bill by calling our Representatives, and urging them not to vote for it until all the questions raised in these hearings have been answered. If you’re not sure who represents you, find out here.

Signs spring up all over the district urging people to join the “Kokesh r3VOLution.”

Adam Kokesh announced at the event, “Celebrate American r3VOLution” that he would seek a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Kokesh referenced Thomas Paine’s “The Crisis” as he announced, “‘These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country . . . Tyranny, like , is not easily conquered.’ So began the great American tradition of winter soldiering. I have decided that for myself, the greatest way to continue that tradition is to run for Congress to represent New Mexico’s Third Congressional District.”

Part of our output is being exported to the US and other countries, but because of the financial crisis, I think exports will be lower and China will have to absorb a larger part of the output itself.

The stimulus package in China is around four trillion RMB, mainly used for infrastructure, housing, construction and also for new energy. I expect nuclear energy to increase six fold and wind energy to increase eightfold by 2020.

Congressman John Hall (D-NY) – conversation at the DNC on 16th Street Mall. Too bad one of your beautiful staffers had to drag you away. I believe that you meant what you said and it made me feel a little better. But the voting record in Congress is on paper……..I’m pretty sure that you have a good record – but too many of your colleagues let humanity down.

from Steve:
The rally last night was great! They played the track over the P.A. prior to the rally and I got to hand Mr. Nader the gift of a CD while he autographed our books. We really felt like part of American influence for the first time ever. Ralph’s speeches are very empowering, especially in-person. The TV show you are referring to, (i believe) was the Mike Douglas Show, which had Ralph on with John and Yoko. OK here goes:
John, Paul, George, Ringo, Apple, Yoko, Lennon, McCartney, Ono, Martin, Peace, Love, British Invasion, Liverpool, Cavern Club, The Quarry Men, Tony Sheridan, Stuart Sutcliffe, Pete Best, EMI, Ed Sullivan, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper’s, War Is Over, Give Peace A Chance… OK i’m drawing a blank… Hope this helps!

I saw the flavor aide at the colorado state university party with the chanting and so forth, quite an embarrassment.
