I’m sure there has been worse. You’re just determined not to to see it. I don’t see Bush as the worse, In fact I see Nixon as far worse from what I read of him.

A little revisionist history there. GW Bush had a Republican House and Senate for the first 6 years of his presidency. It was only the last 2 years that the Democrats took slight majorities.

Well the first point to remember is:
the President does NOT serve UNDER congress. There are three branches of government: Executive, Judicial and Legislative.
Here is a diagram to help remember how this works:

The second point to remember is that for 6 years Bush had a Republican majority congress. Bush signed ALL bills put forth by ALL his Congress over his 8 years with the exception of a total of 12 vetoes. He had the fewest vetoes by a president since Warren G Harding. He could have stopped anything that came out of Congress that was damaging but he did not.

It was a Congress controlled by Republicans for 7 of the 8 years–you know, the years when the seeds of the Republican Great Recession were sprouting and growing into a giant mess.
Democrats didn’t take control of the House until 2007 when they took office from the 2006 elections, and by then the Great Recession had begun unwinding. But bush sent a bunch of folks 300-600 dollar checks and said all would be fine.
It was a Congress that voted lock-step with their President on just about every issue.

You are right and until the democratic congress took over we weren’t doing to bad. They are in my view the ones to blame for what is happening now. When Bush saw problems and wanted them fized he got no co operation because there was usually a corrupt democrat at the bottom of things lining their pockets. And didn’t Obama have anything to say while in office during Bushs administration? Oh wait, he was, he was PRESENT.

Wow, the most inept, yet, most of the time it was Republican controlled. It isn’t his fault, he has not control over who is in congress, but he has to be smart enough to figure out how to work with whomever is in power, he failed, utterly, utterly failed.
